About Me

Echeveria chihuahuaensis 'Cat's Claw' succulent
Hello, succulent friend!

I'm Angel - a succulent gardener and enthusiast in Bulacan, Philippines - a lowland place with tropical monsoon climate (we have looooots of rain).

Cheers! Stumbling upon this blog is no coincidence.
I believe that interests and hobbies bring people together.
Humans are bound to relate to one another.
It is natural for us to find somewhere we belong.

My life with succulents began with four (4) succulents - Haworthia attenuata (Zebra), Crassula Ovata (Jade), Echeveria chihuahuaensis (Cat's Claw), and Echeveria 'Hercules' - which I bought back in June 21, 2020 at my favorite local garden shop (The Sideline).

Amidst the pandemic brought by the novel coronavirus, many people turned to planting and gardening as alternative hobbies while staying at home due to prolonged community quarantine. I was one of them.

However, I wasn't just joining the bandwagon. Planting has been my long-time interest but I didn't have the space and opportunity to pursue it before, especially since I reside in an apartment in the city where I work. I remembered I even wrote "I want to build a mini-garden" during an activity way back 2019. I'm surprised I actually did.

Today, I have hundreds of succulents here in my hometown. I lost many of them as I struggled to learn on how to properly take care of them. Along the way, I found out which genus and species were difficult to establish in my location's microclimate, as well as which ones thrive and live well.

It's a blessing to have found the group The Succulent Club Philippines, where I joined in September 2020. Aside from searching for care guides online, I got most of the support and tips in this group. I love this community!

What to Expect in this Blog

When I finally decided to create this blog, I have this vision in mind - while I document my personal journey in succulent gardening, I want this blog to become a relevant and useful blog about taking care of succulents in Philippines, with lowland areas and tropical climate. (Most websites I find were always pertaining to locations with four seasons, such as in the US and Australia.)

I know there are lots of vlogs already available in the Internet since succulents became in demand and popular over the last year, I guess I'm still stuck in the blogging (writing) world. As I learn, I will also share (so it's a win-win):
  • Succulent ID or names
  • How-to guides
  • Care tips (specifically for Philippine climate)
  • Where to buy
  • And anything I'll find out about succulents!
Happy planting, succulent friends!
